OK, OK, before you ask...RRH...its a long story but basically its from the song Red Right Hand by Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds...and as you may or may not have discovered depending on your gender, having a obviously female nick on IRC can be akin to walking into an all male bar stark naked! (no offence to the many fabulous guys I've met on IRC btw) So now i remain happily androgynous, on IRC at least, although I'm told the way I speak gives me away every time. Ah well... I always knew I could never pull off the mystery woman routine anyway *sigh*
Anyway..back to reality...as I said before I'm Dana (and just for the record you say it Darna..not Daina like Scully from the x-files) and i live in Canberra, Australia...although thats something i usually deny as I'm originally from Perth on the west coast and Canberra has a reputation for being THE most boring city in Australia. (but its not REALLY that bad.....i think) I'm 25 *scream* and wishing I was younger...and work as a journalist for ABC Radio, which is kinda like the BBC in the UK. Its a great job..which somehow I was lucky enough to fall into after 6 years and 2 degrees at uni.....to tel you the truth I could quite happily stayed at uni forever, but I spose I had to actually face up to reality eventually!
My great love is travel and with relatives on just about every continent I've been lucky enough to do a lot of it...I only have Antarctica and South America to go! Highly recommended on my list of must do places are New York, Paris, Hong Kong and anywhere in Japan and Africa. Although London, San Francisco, and Edinburgh are also right up there.. The two places I haven't been to and am desperate to get to are Israel, and thereabouts, and Scandanavia. Israel because it seems to be just the most amazing place, and totally different to Australia, and Scandanavia because my great grandmother was Norwegian and it also seems like a wild part kinda place!!!!!
And when I'm not at work, I love going to see live bands, (especially the million fantastic Australian bands that are finally getting recognised) going to restaurants, hanging out with friends, going to see films, drinking, having a good time, um drinking, having a good time, and more of the above!
So, thats me in a nutshell really..hope i haven't bored you to tears!!
But before I go i better act like I've just won an oscar and say thanks to a few people...firstly, Tim my dear boyfriend who puts up with losing me to IRC far too often...all the fabulous people at #Scotland for just being well...fabulous....and the million computer geniuses I've met who've helped me with my MANY computer problems over the past year or so. (believe me, many people will tell you if there's a way to bugger up a computer, I'm the girl to do it) Not to mention all the great people I've met at #Australia, Vox, Einstein, Gen, Levz, Chuckles, Jacqe and Belli to name but a few..you're all just the best. And finally, thanks Gav..otherwise known as BBV. The very first irc-er I ever met...If not for you I still wouldn't know an DCC from a shot of vodka..not to mention that my computer would have long since crashed!!!!! :)))) Oh yeh, and very very last...my dad..without whom I wouldn't have been half Scottish!!!!!!!
