Macleod

of the clan Macleod

Weel at last ladies an' lassies (quines an' loons)(boys an' girls)(Ladies an' Gents). Just what Iggy is waiting for. Macleod's C.V. (info sheet) (biography(auto)). (biopsy (oops thats when you cut something)). But seriously (as I often am (or not)) it has taken a while but I hope you will find it worth the effort.
Where to start. The beginning I suppose. I first found #Scotland on the second or third venture onto IRC by a chance channel listing which stopped with the screen frozen because the original 80286 PC hung up on me with the listing and #Scotland was about the middle of the screen. Needless to say being the curious and insaitiable for knowledge (of any sort) I had to connect as soon has I rebooted the neanderthal monster that called itself a computer....and to my surprise found that I was talking to people from the home country and elsewhere.....but more of that later.
As is the purpose of this document is to tell you more about myself I will continue and although my age will give rise to lots of laughter and shouts of hoots man ye cannae be that auld...read on especially those of you who like horror stories...and thrillers (I wish). Read on Macleod (excuse the theft and defamation of Shakespears Lead on Macbeth)

.The Facts & Sometimes Fiction.
My name is Connor Macleod of the Clan Macleod and I was born in the highlands of SCOTLAND over 400 years ago. (fiction).
My name is John Graeme Dickson of no clan that I can claim to be a member off or know about 40 years ago in Falkirk. (fact)(some of you will know where this is.)
My first connection on #Scotland (+nst) was Pict_ (fact) he of the brightly painted buttocks (fact or fiction choose for yourself) probally because he mentioned single malt scotch to which I have a genuine passion. But he definately knows or has tasted more than I have...I'm trying hard to catch up though. Alas he is
seldom on the channel now. Ist it the same as it was or not .
The next was Iggy (who once again is waiting for this bio) as I came on just as he was designing the #Scotland homepage. (He waited patiently for my contribution) Of course as you are now reading it (I hope) you will realise that he now has it. I have to thank Iggy for heping me with some IRC commands which greatly improved my knowledge and working capability of IRC. Many thanks Iggy.

I have talked (typed) to many of you and the list expands more and more every day as others join our happy band. It would take to many kbytes to mention you all so please don't be sore about omissions. (This is meant to be by autobiography after all)
As I said I was born in Falkirk. The stupendous day (now thats an old word) was the 2nd of March 1956 (I told you I was ancient). I grew up (although sometimes my mother disagrees with that) in Grangemouth where I went to school both primary and high school until 1972 when my parents decided to emigrate to South Africa and take myself and my three brothers as well. A move that was not very popular with us kids at the time. I finished my education (or is it edukashun) at high school and technical college in South Africa and completed an apprenticeship in engineering before going into the South African Merchant Navy.

I stayed there for about 6 months until the ship I was on docked in Southampton. This was in 1980. I bummed around the UK first in Aberdeen, where I have some family (cousins and aunts and uncles etc) and then back to Southampton before going to Amsterdam where I stayed until 1983 and returning to SA.
After working at a few different jobs I decided that it sucks to work for a boss and started my own business and found out that now you gotta work a lot damn harder. Still it puts food on the table most days.

Since the original bio (and I have changed it a bit Iggy) many moons have passed. To cut a long story short I have returned to my home town of Grangemouth (November 1999) in time for the millenium celebrations, which weer .....well I git tipsy (only slightly though)., where I am now living and working as a Systems Manager.
For those of you who have got this far (well done). My hobbies are Music (I play a pretty mean lead guitar and some keyboards) and am a definate Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd fan and also like Gary Moore, U2, Simple Minds and more. My next great passion is sailing and have done a couple of ocean races and sail in races often on the Vaal Dam (which I used to live next to) on yachts (great fun).
OK this is the intial draft and will be updated with gif's and jpeg's when I get my bloody scanner working.
