Once upon a time in a land far far away, a young innocent chap was sitting in his computer lab one day, doing his next assessment on programming, when his eye catches a friend, who is typing furiously, and laughing out loud a lot. He tried to ignore it, but to his surprise found it too intriguing. On approach to his friend, he was told that it was IRC, and that he was talking interactively with People from different parts of the world ! This was too much for the innocent young boy to take in, and he promptly asked, no, demanded a copy of the program to be placed into his account for him to use. He was told that he needed a "Nick Name," but at that precise moment his brain disengaged from his motor functions, and he became stupid. His friend, awarded him the nick of "Ford" which stuck.

That was all that was needed for this young man to become an addict, the start of a slippery slope to decline, and deprivation ! Yes, folks, I am responsible for a Cow being on IRC too, I gave him his first client. ! BIT STOOPID THAT, WASN'T IT.

Yes, guys that is right, this is the true story of how I became an IRC addict. The friend I was talking about was DGently, a person who is now a regular on #Scotland too.

My first channel was channel #australia, where I "Learned the ropes" of IRC. Being taught the hard way by asking (as all newbies do) "What is that 'swirly thing people get ?" And "Can I have it to !" After many weeks of constant IRC'ing, I made a great friend, in a guy named Striker, to which I became a channel op there, then a bot master / owner. After using #australia for a couple of years, I decided to expand my horizons, as the channel had moved into a bad phase, I decided to search for pastures new. Another great personal (Real Life friend) of mine, Gerty, had taken up residence on #Scotland; but I said "Nah, been there before, it was dead !" To which came the reply, "No it is good now !" I tried, I liked I stayed ! Then I met this little guy called Iggy, who at that time personified #Scotland; i.e. friendly, happy etc etc (No, don't get Big headed Iggy ! :-> ).

I am termed as the power freak of IRC. Because, I am always at the bottom of either trying to set up a server, or trying to get some other privileges i.e bot access etc etc. But, most of the time, you'll find me on-line just talking about complete crap ! *grin*. To the extent that My University HATE me, because I set up an IRC Server without permission and got caught ! *whoops* Gerty, you were involved too, so don't look at me that way ! You too Cheese ! *grin*

Just a quick mention to some of the guys who have made me welcome on IRC (Most you will know, but others you won't), Gerty, DGently, Iggy, Cheesedip, Duckie (Can't forget her), Jester (known for his 'I don't have anything to do with it, even thought it is mine' excuses !), Durham (My friend, and Co-Admin) etc etc. Now for a few from #australia, Striker, Falling, riv, Beefer, KK, Botak etc etc. Without these guys, I would have given up on IRC as a lost cause long ago. So THANK YOU TO YOU ALL !!

OK, personal stuff. I have been using IRC for almost 3 years now. At present I am studying Computing Science and Maths at the University of Glasgow. Sports wise.. Swiming - I swam at a few Nationals and Internationals; I was also involved in Martial Arts (Karate) where I attained my Black belt ! I hate doing this bit ... That's Enough now.

OK, that is enough of me blabbering on, I'll et you all go do something more interesting, like Washing your hair, or watching paint dry...*grin*
