(You know, what I like about this system of communication is that I can write whatever I want without anyone interfering or telling me "This isn't interesting Emily, is it THAT important for you?" or "Is there a lot until it ends?" well, as some would say: HUH-HUH, eat this - you can't say a thing! I have beaten/outsmarted society YEE-PEE!!!)...(I hope you're not taking any of this seriously...) 8)
I've known forever who I am. Do you realize how unusual it is to know that? I have that absolute conviction that there's something in life I'm meant to do. My aunt tells me that's quite splendid and terribly rare. My mom and dad are like that and more. They are the ones who care so much - enough to risk everything when they tried to escape from Vietnam to the US, enough to change and do things. Most people aren't like that, you know. It isn't that they don't care but that the don't care as much. Studying history, I often wonder are some people destined for a great fate, or to do great things? Or it is only that they're born somehow with that great passion - and if they find themselves in the right circumstances, then things happen? It's the sort of thing you wonder sometimes... At any rate, it makes me think of the extreme courage of my parents who tried to sneak out of our native country Vietnam in the summer of '84. My father left first - alone, then my mom and I followed him shortly afterward. We essentially went separately ways but met at the same place safe and sound, after much danger (I have to admit, being young as I was - I was about 7 yrs old - I was scared out of my wits).
I came to the US in the Fall of '85. After the excitement of my escape, how can I make 10 years after that of nothing but studies interesting to tell? So I won't... Compared to my life before '85 my life now has been a morass of serenity. Well, almost 8) I'm a senior in high school. I will most likely end up going to the University of Connecticut next fall. I'm thinking of going into pre-medicine, or something in the science field, but right now I'm majoring in procrastination (those damn college essays are a pain!!).
What are my interests? Well, I'm very addicted to books (if anyone has found a cure for this addiction, please let me know because I'm spending way too much money on books 8) - I read all sorts of books, from Anne Rice to Charlotte Bronte, but historical fiction is my favorite. Some of my favorite books include 'The Mists of Avalon', 'Gone With the Wind', 'The Fountainhead' and anything by Diana Gabaldon. I doodle a lot (favorite pastime during class in fact 8*) and I admit I have a thing for drawing and painting. Many of my friends think I should go into the art field but alas I can't see myself making a living being an artist. I am also a very physical creature! I run a lot, in rain or shine. I play field hockey - it's one of the few things I am actually good at. I may appear pretty shy and dreamy in real life, but give me a stick and put me out on the field and pretty soon you'll see the opponents running away from me when they glismp my ugly face! heheh....the reason is I'm kinda small in stature but pretty big on courage 8) So that's where all the bruises came from and why my face is disfigured with all the scars! heheh...I get whacked so often! I was nicknamed 'Crash' (God knows why!) ;) Hm, let's see what else... I love astrology, RPG's, submarines (I never said I was your typical girl 8), and MUSIC! My mom is always complaining about the stereo being on all day... I listen to almost anything but heavy metal, rap, gospel and country; Pucinni, Mozart, the Beatles, Sting, Barbra Streisand are some of my favorites.

I came to #scotland at the end of August '95 when I first had IRC connection. Why #scotland? I've read a lot of books on historical Scotland and have fallen in love with it. I have never been to Scotland, unfortunately, but I'm sure I will one day, as I do love to travel. In fact, I'm going to England and France for a brief visit in April, so it's a good start. I had AOL before going on IRC so I'm very used to the online world. To be honest, I had enough of conquering the great U.S! Now it is world-wide Emily! Watch out world!! heheh! j/k... Chatting with people from all over the world is terrific, all these different countries, ideas, attitudes...amazing how the world shrinks before our eyes (keyboard). IRC is quite fun. A friend of mine read a philosophic book which says that in real life (not internet life) we have a destination. All the people that we observe, notice, are aware of their being are because these people are sent to help us get to our destination, achieve our goal, by sharing with us their new, different approach on life. This means that every person you notice, even if it's a face in the bus or at a store, not just romantic-thing-observation, just simple notice, you should go up to him so he could give you his contribution, his idea. The only problem is that we've developed into shy, scared, suspicious creatures, and we simply don't have the courage to do that. I wish we did. Think how much more educated and smart you could be by just talking to people, all kinds of them, not just people from common backgrounds. The internet and my friends from #scotland is a little step into talking to people but one of the disadvantages is that it is kind of detaching and you cannot see the other person's face. What a load .... it's me, no need to panic. I wish I had the patience reading all these philosophic books... what can I do, they irritate me so much, talking endlessley with no action... it drives me insane!! Aughhhhhh! Okay, then I'm not an intellectual type, what can I do? Are you bored to death?
Congrats! You've made it down this far! Frankly, I'm amazed 8*) You deserve to go outside, breathe in fresh air, walk your dog, mow the lawn...er okay, forget that last one 8). If you would like to contact me, write to me at milvashina@hotmail.com
Hugs and respect go out to: Grogman, Iggy, Natas, CheeseDip, GPz, Gerty, Thanos, Jester, Paddy, goedel, Fally, L_Man, Fuzzsteel, Sav, Keaton, durham, Stumpey, Oblueeyes, A-metal, chuckee, and everyone else who have made IRC so fun for me! 8)
