Durham

Umm...hello :) It's taken me a year to get around to writing this, but I finally got bored enough to do this, so bare with me...I first logged on to IRC in February of '95, and I became a #Scotland regular right away, mainly 'cuz April_Mae was the first person I met who wasn't annoying :) I've buggered off to other channels a couple times, but #Scotland's always been the only one I really feel at home with. My only complaint is that there arent enough people anymore who wanna fight the bloody Lats...them was the good ole days I tell ya :)

My real name is Ben (Benjamin to the cops) Blakely. I was born and raised in Durham, North Carolina (NOT "Durham, bloody-England"), hence my witty and sophisticated nick. I'm 19 and an off-and-on student at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Currently I'm employed as an assistant sys-admin for (here's the advert) WebServe, Inc, an ISP in Charlotte, North Carolina (and Daizy just slapped me for stealing her ice cream...interesting). I have no real direction in my life, and if anyone reading this could give me one I'd appreciate it :) My interests include: computers and internetworking (of course), history, political science, camping, and various illegal activities. I waste alot of time trying to take over Efnet (aided and abbetted by Ford...it's all his doing, really) and fiddling with the bloody bot (robespier, my pride and joy...but it's Matty's fault if anything goes wrong :)

As a couple of people noticed, I was gone from the Internet for 4 or 5 months, and just recently returned...(it's 1:11 am, May17, 1996 right now...set yer clocks). That was because I learned how evil this whole IRC thing can be. BUT, I'm back, and better for having been gone so long. Anyways, that's about all you could possibly wanna know about me, so the rest of this bio is sort of my way of paying homage to some of the people who've made this last year and a half on IRC worth while.

A few of the people I've met online have gone beyond being merely "IRC friends". First up is Matty (Thanos), who's probably my best friend on the net, and who I copied the background and text colour for this page from (/me gives Thanos a pack of Ramen noodles :) Then there's Cin (xylia), who I kinda let down when I disappeared, and if I ever see her again I owe her a HUGE apology (moo said ben). Next we have Jeanine (Daizy_), who for some reason is easily spooked....(boo!). Brian (Keaton), who better get his ass back online soon, was one of my first friends in #Scotland, and I blame him for all my wasted time online (ya hick :). There's Iram (teg, not teggie :P), who is the only person to ever teach me any Urdu, and who needs to do her German homework :) Finally, I have to mention the three stooges: Ford, Gerty, and Striker....I'm probably gonna get smacked three times for that :)
